P31 Labs
Georgia 501(c)(3) Nonprofit (in formation)  ·  Est. 2026

Building open-source assistive technology for neurodivergent individuals. Rooted in quantum biology. Engineered for the minds that think different.

Cognitive prosthetics, not cognitive patches.

P31 Labs develops assistive technology that works with neurodivergent cognition instead of forcing neurotypical patterns. Our tools don't train you to mask. They amplify how you already think.

The name comes from Phosphorus-31, the only stable isotope of phosphorus and the foundation of ATP — the molecule that powers every thought. Combined with calcium, it forms the Posner molecule (Ca9(PO4)6), the hypothesized substrate for quantum cognition in biological systems.

We took that literally. Our product suite — hardware, software, and protocol — is designed from the molecular level up. Every interface decision is grounded in the neuroscience of how attention, executive function, and sensory processing actually work in divergent brains.

Ca₉(PO₄)₆ — The Posner Molecule
P31 = Phosphorus-31 (NMR-active, quantum spin ½)
Ca = Calcium (9 atoms, binding the structure)

Three layers. One organism.

Node One
Hardware · ESP32-S3 · Open Source

An assistive wearable built on the ESP32-S3 microcontroller. Haptic feedback for sensory regulation, LoRa mesh communication for off-grid sovereignty, and a secure element (SE050) for hardware-backed identity. The "Thick Click" — every digital action has a physical recoil.

The Buffer
Software · Communication Processor

A communication processing layer for people whose brains overshoot in conversation. Voltage analysis, pattern detection, pause timing, friction logging. Not a filter — a lens. Helps you see your own signal before it transmits.

The Centaur
Protocol · Human-AI Collaboration

A structured protocol for human-AI collaboration where the human provides direction, context, and judgment while the AI provides execution, memory, and synthesis. Named for the mythological hybrid. Built for people who think in systems but struggle with sequential output.

The Tetrahedron Protocol: A Geometric Framework for Sovereign Communication
Johnson, W.R. (2025) · Zenodo

Defensive publications and prior art filings are deposited on Zenodo with DOIs for permanent citability. The Tetrahedron Protocol establishes the geometric security framework that underlies P31 Labs' communication architecture — background-independent, clock-free, based on SIC-POVM quantum measurements rather than computational complexity.

The work is public.

The P31 ecosystem is open source. The monorepo contains the full product suite: React frontend, Three.js visualization, SUPER-CENTAUR engine (TypeScript), GENESIS_GATE backend (Google Apps Script), ESP32-S3 firmware, the Greenhouse app marketplace (20+ standalone HTML apps), a custom domain-specific language (P31 DSL), a complete 3D print slicer pipeline, and production cryptography (Ed25519 + AES-256-GCM).

Building with, not building for.

P31 Labs works with organizations that share our commitment to assistive technology, open source, and neurodivergent-centered design.

Georgia Tech Tools for Life

Georgia's Assistive Technology Act Program. P31 Labs is developing hardware and software in coordination with Tools for Life's statewide assistive technology network.

Makers Making Change

Open-source assistive technology community. Node One designs are intended for distribution through the MMC network, enabling local fabrication of assistive devices.

Digital-First Programs

We prioritize programs, grants, and accelerators where digital presence is the application. Our codebase, publications, and live product speak louder than a handshake.

William R. Johnson

16-year DoD civilian engineer (submarine electrical systems). Diagnosed ADHD + Autism in 2025 after decades of undiagnosed neurodivergence. Left federal service to build the tools that would have changed everything if they'd existed 20 years ago.

Deep expertise in electrical systems, safety-critical infrastructure, embedded systems development, and systematic troubleshooting. Applying engineering discipline to the problem of cognitive accessibility.
